Learning at Peoria Prep
Academics with a clear purpose.
Alternative scheduling, strong instruction, and mentoring help students build the academic and career skills to succeed.
Our mission
Our school is a learning and mentoring community that creates a safe environment and alternative methods of scheduling, instruction, and behavioral management. We help under-supported students develop their visions and goals, academic, vocational, and employability skills to ensure success in life, college, and the workplace.

We believe that all students can learn.
Admission of homeless students
McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements Act of 2001
If your family lives in a shelter, motel, vehicle or campground; on the street; in an abandoned building, trailer, or other inadequate accommodation; or doubled up with friends or relatives because you cannot find or afford housing, your children have rights and protections under federal law.
Your children have the right to:
- Go to school regardless of where or how long you have lived there, with access to the same public education as other children.
- Continue in their school of origin when that is your choice and feasible, with a written explanation and right to appeal if another school is assigned.
- Receive transportation to their school of origin when requested by a parent or guardian.
- Attend school and participate in regular programs with children who are not homeless.
- Enroll without a permanent address or proof of residency that would prevent or delay enrollment.
- Attend classes while school and immunization records are transferred.
- Attend the school of your choice while an enrollment dispute is resolved.
- Receive the same special programs, services, and transportation provided to other eligible students.
When you move:
- Contact the local homeless-education liaison for help enrolling or arranging continued attendance.
- Give the school information that will help teachers support your child’s adjustment.
- Ask the liaison, shelter provider, or social worker for help with clothing and supplies when needed.
